When coral was bought domestically rather than harvested, you can tag it as a domestic purchase on the Coral Traceability Solution (CTS) mobile app. You do not need to enter a harvest location or harvest dates. This guide walks the full flow from start to Register coral.
Already Tagged? Please note, if the coral purchased was already tagged and registered in the Coral Traceability Solution, you should use the 'Receive Coral' action to transfer it to your location, see How do I receive coral on the CTS mobile app?
Start tagging
On the Home screen, tap the Tag Coral tile. From the Select harvest record screen, tap Enter purchase.
Specify the origin
The Specify origin of coral screen opens. In the Details of origin section (required), choose one origin:
Licensed Fisher
Shop
Private Sale
Add proof of origin
Scroll to the Proof of origin section (required) and tap Tap to take photo of the proof of origin. The camera opens; photograph the proof of origin document. The photo appears in the section and can be retaken. Once you have selected an origin and added the photo, the Next: Select species button becomes active.
Select the species
Browse the list and tap a species (for example, 'Acropora spp'). You then continue to select a variety.
Select the variety
Browse the list and tap a variety (for example, 'Ultra - Medium'). You then continue to the tag attachment method and notes.
Add a tag attachment method and notes
Choose how the tag is attached in the Tag attachment method section:
Not specified (selected by default)
Subcutaneous
Skeleton
Frag plug/disk
To add a note, scroll to the Notes section, tap Add notes, and type your note (for example, 'Purchased from licensed fisher, good colour'). Tap Next: Scan coral to continue.
Scan the coral
On the scanning screen, scan one or more specimens with RFID, Camera / QR or Manual Entry; each tag appears in the Scanned items list.
For scanning help, see How do I choose or change my scanning method (RFID, QR or Visual ID)?
Add weight and photo
After scanning, you can add a weight and photo to each scanned specimen from the scanning screen.
For weight and photo help, see How do I add a weight and photo to a scanned specimen?
Register coral
When you have scanned every specimen, tap Register coral. The data is saved to the CTS and a confirmation notification tells you the tagging is complete.
What gets saved
Each tagged specimen is saved with a unique identifier (UID) matching the tag ID, the Fisher (your participant organisation), the origin details you entered, the Species, the Variety (if you selected one), and a generation value the system sets automatically. You can view the specimen on the web app in the Product List.
