The Preferences screen on the Australian Wildlife Traceability System (AWTS) mobile app is where you set your default tagging method, default location and display mode. Your defaults are applied automatically to your traceability actions, so you do not have to choose them each time.
Open Preferences
To open Preferences, tap the menu icon (≡) in the top-left corner of the Home screen, then tap Preferences. The Preferences screen opens with the settings Default Tag, Default Location and Display Mode, each with a forward arrow (▸). Tap the back arrow (←) at any time to return to the Home screen.
Note: Settings are grouped into Fishery Configuration (Default Tag and Default Location) and Hardware Configuration (your RFID reader). Your choices are saved automatically, with no separate save button, and your preferences are synced to your OriginsNext account, so they follow you if you sign in on another device.

Set your default tagging method
Your default tagging method is the scan method used automatically when you start a tagging or scanning action. To set your default tagging method:
On the Preferences screen, tap Default Tag.
On the Default Tag Method screen, choose one option: RFID ID, QR Code ID, or Manual Entry.
Tap the back arrow (←) to return to Preferences.
Your choice is saved and shown next to Default Tag, and is used as the default for future tagging actions.
Set your default location
Your default location is where your actions are recorded. To set your default location:
On the Preferences screen, tap Default Location.
On the Default Location screen, choose your location from the list (for example, 'Cairns Facility' or 'Townsville Facility').
Tap the back arrow (←) to return to Preferences.
Your choice is saved and shown next to Default Location, and is used as the default location for future traceability actions. If you ever see a message asking you to set a default location, set it here.
Note: Only locations that belong to your organisation appear in the list. Locations from other organisations are not shown.
Set your display mode
Display Mode controls how the app looks. To set your display mode:
On the Preferences screen, tap Display Mode.
Choose one option:
Option | What it does |
Auto | Matches your device's system setting, switching between light and dark automatically. |
Light | Always uses the light (bright) theme. |
Dark | Always uses the dark theme. |
Your choice is applied straight away and saved for next time.
