An Order template tells OriginsNext which evidence to require on Orders that match criteria you set, such as product templates, origin or destination countries, or product classification codes. When an Order that matches is created, the template's Evidence Templates appear as requirements on the Order's Compliance tab, so you do not have to add them by hand each time. Your ecosystem may already have pre-configured templates; if they do not fit your circumstances, you can create your own.
Before you start
An Order template points to one or more Evidence Templates, which set what each piece of evidence asks for. Check that the Evidence Templates you want exist, under Evidence Tracking > Templates, or create them first.
To create an Evidence Template, see How do I add an Evidence Template?
View your Order templates
To see the Order templates you can use, go to Order Compliance > Order Templates. The Order templates list shows each template's Name, Evidence requirements, Product templates, Origin countries, Destination countries, GPC codes, HS codes, Applies to, Owner, Visibility and Status. Use Search order templates to find one.
Create an Order template
To create an Order template:
Go to Order Compliance > Order Templates and click + Add order template. The Create order template panel opens.
Enter a Name, for example EU Deforestation evidence, and choose the Visibility.
Under Matching criteria, set the criteria that decide which Orders the template applies to (see the table below). At least one criterion is required.
Under Required evidence, search Evidence Templates and select at least one.
Click Create, or Cancel to close the panel without saving.
The matching criteria are:
Criterion | What it matches |
Product templates | Orders for products based on the product templates you choose. |
Origin countries | Orders from the origin countries you choose. |
Destination countries | Orders going to the destination countries you choose. |
GPC classifications | GS1 Global Product Classification (GPC) codes. Drill down through Segment, Family, Class and Brick, then click Add codes. |
Harmonized System codes | Harmonized System (HS) codes that an Order's products must match. A code also covers the codes beneath it, so chapter 44 matches every product coded under it. Search by code or description at any level. |
What happens on matching Orders
When an Order that matches the template's criteria is created, the template's Evidence Templates are added to it as compliance requirements and appear on its Compliance tab. Any supporting requirements inside those Evidence Templates appear too, in their groups. You can still add, change or remove requirements on each Order.
Tip: After you create a template, create a test Order that matches it and check that the requirements you expect appear on its Compliance tab.
Important: An Order template records the evidence your organisation chooses to ask for. OriginsNext does not decide what any regulation requires: you decide which requirements fit your circumstances.
To add or change requirements on one Order, see How do I add compliance requirements to an Order?
