How do I move coral between tanks within my facility?

Use the Receive Coral action and the Receive at location field to relocate coral you already own between tanks or sub-locations at your facility.

You can use the Receive Coral action to move coral you already own from one tank to another within your facility in the Australian Wildlife Traceability System (AWTS). The Receive at location field lets you choose any of your locations, including tanks and other sub-locations, so receiving coral into a different tank records a relocation. Because you already own the coral, this updates its location only, with no change of owner. You start from the Receive Coral tile on the Home screen.

When to use this

Use Receive Coral to relocate your own coral between tanks or sub-locations at your facility, for example moving parent colonies into a spawning tank, or simply moving a frag into different grow out tank. The coral must already be tagged and owned by your organisation. If the coral is not yet tagged, tag it first.

To tag coral that is not yet registered, see How do I tag coral from a domestic purchase?

Move coral to another tank

To move coral between tanks within your facility:

  1. On the Home screen, tap the Receive Coral tile.

  2. In Receive at location, tap the field, search for and select the destination tank or sub-location. By default this shows your default location preference, so change it to the tank you are moving the coral into.

  3. Scan each specimen's tag. Each tag appears in the Scanned items list and the header shows the total.

  4. Optionally tap Add notes to record a note about the move.

  5. Tap Receive coral to save. A confirmation notification appears.

What gets updated

For each specimen you move, the AWTS updates its current Location to the tank you selected in Receive at location and adds a 'Received' event to its traceability journey. Because you already own the coral, the owner does not change. You may see the message 'Already in your inventory; it will be received without an ownership change', which is expected for a within-facility move and needs no action. You can view the new location on the desktop web app in the Product List.
