How do I split a spawning batch into sub-plates?

You can split a spawning batch's settlement plates into sub-plates in the Australian Wildlife Traceability System (AWTS). You select the batch by scanning a settlement plate, then scan the resulting sub-plate fragments. You start from the Breed Coral tile.

Select the batch and start a split

On the Create spawning batch screen, tap Select existing batch, then scan a settlement plate that belongs to the batch. When the batch is recognised, tap Split batch.

Scan the sub-plates and save

The Scan plate fragments screen shows 'Press button on your device to scan plate fragments one by one'. Scan each sub-plate fragment; they appear in the Scanned items list. Tap Split to save the data to the AWTS and create the traceability record. A confirmation notification appears. Once you split the batch, the batch you scanned is used up and cannot be transferred or split again.

Error messages you may see

If an action cannot be completed, the AWTS mobile app shows a short message. Here is what the messages you are most likely to see when splitting a batch mean, and what to do.

Message

What it means and what to do

'Batch not found in system'

The scanned settlement plate is not registered. Check you scanned the right tag.

'Settlement plate already consumed'

That batch has already been transferred or split and cannot be used again.
