Breeding coral records sexual reproduction in the Coral Traceability Solution (CTS). You create a spawning batch by scanning the parent colonies and the settlement plates, then save the batch so you can link offspring to it later. You start from the Breed Coral tile on the Home screen.
Scan the parent colonies
On the Home screen, tap Breed Coral. The Create spawning batch screen opens with the instruction 'Press button on your device to scan parent colonies one by one', an empty Scanned items list (with an EDIT button), and two buttons: Select existing batch and Scan settlement plates (greyed out at first). Scan each parent colony tag; they appear in the list and the buttons become active.
Scan the settlement plates
Tap Scan settlement plates. The screen updates to 'Press button on your device to scan settlement plates one by one'. Scan each settlement plate, then tap Next: Spawning batch details.
For scanning help, see How do I choose or change my scanning method (RFID, QR or Visual ID)?
Add batch details and register
On the batch details screen you can optionally:
Set a settlement date: tap Select date under Settlement date, choose a date, and tap OK.
Add notes: tap the Add notes field and type a note.
Both are optional. Tap Register to save the spawning batch to the CTS. A confirmation notification appears, and the batch becomes available to link offspring or to split.
To link offspring, see How do I link offspring to a spawning batch? To split the batch, see How do I split a spawning batch into sub-plates?
