Once a spawning batch exists in the Coral Traceability Solution (CTS), you link the offspring that settle from it. You select the batch by scanning one of its settlement plates, then scan the offspring specimens. You start from the Breed Coral tile.
To create a spawning batch first, see How do I record coral breeding and create a spawning batch?
Select the spawning batch
On the Create spawning batch screen, tap Select existing batch. The Select spawning batch screen shows 'Press button on your device to scan settlement plate'. Scan a settlement plate that belongs to the batch; it appears in Scanned items (with a RESCAN button) and the system recognises the batch. The Scan offspring and Split batch buttons become available.
Scan and register the offspring
Tap Scan offspring. On the Scan offspring screen ('Press button on your device to scan offspring one by one'), scan each offspring specimen; they appear in Scanned items. Tap Register to save. Each offspring is linked to the spawning batch and its parent colonies, and a confirmation notification appears.
What gets saved
Each offspring is saved with a unique identifier (UID) matching its tag, the Fisher (your participant organisation), the Location (your default location), the Species inherited from the parent colonies, the Variety (if applicable), and the parent UIDs. You can view it on the web app in the Product List.
