How do I connect my TRACES account?

Connect your organisation's TRACES web-service account in Settings > Integrations so you can submit statements from your Orders.

TRACES (the EU's TRAde Control and Expert System) is the EU system where OriginsNext files the due diligence statements you choose to submit from your Orders. To submit from OriginsNext, your organisation first connects its TRACES web-service account in Settings > Integrations. Each organisation has one TRACES web-service account, and statements are filed with that organisation's details.

Before you start

To connect TRACES, you need your organisation's TRACES web-service username and authentication key. They come from your organisation's TRACES account, not from OriginsNext. Only Tenant Admins can connect, edit, turn off or delete the TRACES connection, and only for their own organisation. If you are not a Tenant Admin, ask one in your organisation. Other users who try to submit without a connection see "Ask an administrator to fix this in Settings > Integrations."

Use a TRACES account that belongs to the company filing the statements. OriginsNext sends the company of the connected TRACES account as the operator, not your organisation's name in OriginsNext.

Connect your TRACES account

To connect your organisation's TRACES account:

  1. Open the account menu and choose Settings.

  2. Go to the Integrations tab. Under Connected services, the EU TRACES card (EUDR due diligence statements) shows its status, for example Not connected.

  3. Click Connect TRACES. A connection page opens for your organisation.

  4. Click Connect TRACES on that page. The Connect TRACES window opens. All three fields are required:

    • Organisation: already filled in with your organisation. Your statements are submitted with this TRACES account.

    • TRACES username: your EU Login username for your TRACES web service account.

    • Authentication key: the authentication key for that TRACES web service account.

  5. Click Save and activate. To close the window without saving, click Cancel.

Note: The authentication key is stored securely. You can replace it later, but you cannot view it. OriginsNext does not test the key when you save it, so a wrong key only shows up the first time you submit a statement.

After you connect

Once your TRACES account is connected, you can submit due diligence statements to the EU from an Order's Compliance tab. OriginsNext submits a statement only when you choose Submit and confirm it.

  • If you try to submit before connecting, OriginsNext shows Connect your TRACES account with a Go to settings button to open Settings.

  • If the connection is turned off, OriginsNext shows Your TRACES account is turned off. Turn it back on in Settings > Integrations to submit statements again. Turning the connection off, or deleting it, does not affect statements you have already submitted.
