How do I allocate products to an Order, including manual batches?

Use the Allocate products modal to assign tracked inventory to an Order line, record manual batches for wild-source lines, and adjust or remove allocations.

Allocating products assigns the actual products that fulfil each line of an Order. Products are usually linked to an Order automatically through traceability events (for example, when goods are packed against the Order). You can also allocate from the Order's Products tab.

The Products tab

Open the Order and go to the Products tab. The Products ordered card compares the buyer's requested quantities to what is allocated: each product type shows its source code, the ordered quantity, and its allocation state (for example, None allocated). Select a product type to see its allocations below, in Allocations: <product>, and a running total (Total products allocated, the percentage allocated, and the total quantity). Allocated products that arrived via traceability events appear here automatically with their Product ID, Created Date, Product Location and Inventory.

Allocate products

For the selected product line, click Allocate products to open the Allocate <product> window. It offers two ways to allocate:

Mode

When to use it

Select inventory

Use when the products already exist in OriginsNext. Search your available inventory and tick the products to allocate. Each row shows the Product ID, Product Location, the quantity Available, and the Allocation.

Record manually

Use when the products do not yet exist in OriginsNext. Enter a Location and a Quantity to record a batch quantity against the Order. This does not create individual, tracked products; it simply marks the quantity as allocated to the Order.

Confirm with Allocate products. You can reopen the window to allocate more, and remove an allocation later.

Important: This allocation method does not currently support allocating bulk inventory. Bulk inventory is allocated through traceability events instead.

Check compliance before allocating

Before you allocate, you can check which of your available inventory meets the Order's compliance requirements on the Scenarios tab.

For what the allocation state means for the Order overall, see What do the Order statuses mean?
