How do I record coral mortality or remove coral from active stock?

Mark a specimen Deceased, Sold or Conservation in Update Coral on the AWTS mobile app to remove it from active inventory.

When a specimen has died, been sold, or moved to conservation, you record this during an Update Coral action on the Australian Wildlife Traceability System (AWTS) mobile app. The specimen is then marked inactive and removed from your active inventory. You start from the Update Coral tile.

To start an Update Coral action and to record growth instead, see How do I update coral on the AWTS mobile app?

Set the specimen status

After you scan the specimen on the Inventory update screen, use the Update status dropdown. To remove a specimen from your active inventory, choose one of these statuses:

  • Deceased

  • Sold Domestically

  • Sold as Ornamental

  • Conservation

The same dropdown also has Update status (for recording growth and measurements on a specimen you are keeping) and Reactivate (to return an inactive specimen to your active inventory).

Add a mortality reason

If you select Deceased, a Describe mortality reason field appears. Type the mortality reason (for example, 'Bleaching due to elevated water temperature'). This is required.

Finalise and what happens

Tap Update coral to save. A confirmation notification appears (for example, 'Batch updated!'). The specimen's inventory status becomes Inactive and it no longer appears in the active inventory list. You can view this on the web app in the Product List.
