What measurements and photos are required when fragging (C vs W)?

What weight, length, height and photos are required or optional for broodstock and fragments when fragging, by source code and generation.

When fragging coral on the Coral Traceability Solution (CTS) mobile app, the measurements and photos you must record depend on the Target source code you set (C or W) and the generation of the broodstock (P, F1, F2 or later). This article summarises what is mandatory and what is optional. Height is always optional.

Source code W (Wild): everything optional

With target source code W, nothing is mandatory. For both the broodstock and each fragment you can optionally record weight (g), length (mm), height (mm) and a photo, or leave them blank.

Source code C (Captive-bred): broodstock

With target source code C, what the broodstock requires depends on its generation:

  • If the broodstock is F1 or F2: a photo is mandatory, and weight or length is mandatory (matching the measurement type captured when the broodstock was originally created).

  • If the broodstock is P or F2 and later: the photo and the weight/length fields are optional.

  • Height is always optional.

Source code C (Captive-bred): fragments

With target source code C, what each fragment requires depends on the broodstock's generation:

  • If the broodstock is P or F1: a fragment photo is mandatory, and at least one measurement (weight or length, your choice) is mandatory. The app prevents you registering until these are provided.

  • If the broodstock is F1 and later: the photo and the weight/length measurements are optional.

  • Height is always optional.

Notes

Notes are optional for every fragment, regardless of source code or generation.
