How do I view my specimen?

Find a coral specimen in your Products List, then open it to see its origin, its full event history and its permits.

Every tagged coral specimen is a Product in OriginsNext. Viewing a specimen is two jobs: finding the one you want in the Products List, then opening it to read its record. This article covers both.

Find the specimen in your Products List

Your specimens live in the Products List. It is the same list interface used across OriginsNext, so learning it once covers Participants, Locations, Evidences and Orders too.

Every list gives you:

  • A search box.

  • Filters, for example by species or by Location.

  • Sortable columns and a column picker, so you can show the fields you care about.

  • An adjustable row height and pagination.

If you use the same filters regularly, save the configured list as a reusable view rather than setting it up each time.

Open one specimen

To open one specimen, click its row in the Products List. The Product Details page opens on the Overview tab.

The Overview tab shows:

  • The specimen's identification, its current owner and where it is held.

  • The input and output flow of how it was created or used, so you can see the parent colony a frag came from.

  • A geospatial timeline of where the specimen has been.

  • Prior and current ownership.

  • For coral and other biological Products: scientific classification, generation, country of origin, harvest details and measurements.

For every field on the page, see How do I view the details of a Product?

Follow its history

To follow a specimen's history, open the Journey tab. It lists every traceability Event recorded against the specimen: tagging, receiving, fragging, growth updates, transport and transfer. Event cards link through to related Products and Events, so you can walk back up the chain to the wild colony a frag came from.

For reading the journey, see How do I track the journey of a Product through Events? To trace parent and offspring colonies, see How do I view a Product's generational tracking?

See its permits

The permits and licences that cover a specimen are attached to it as Evidence, and you can see them from the specimen itself.

For the Evidence on a specimen, see How do I view the Evidences applied to a Product?

View it in the field instead

You do not need the desktop platform to look a specimen up. In the AWTS mobile app, use View Coral to scan the specimen's tag and open its details straight away.
