How do I create a Product Template?

Set up product templates with standardised parameters

You can add new product templates in OriginsNext to define standard characteristics for groups of traceable products. Templates can be created either via a web form or API.

Note: Product templates should only be created for items owned by your organisation.

To add a template owned by a third party, please raise a Support Request with the required details and our team will help add the template.

Steps to create a product template:

  1. Navigate to Product Traceability > Product Catalogue in the menu bar.

  2. Then click Product Templates.

  3. Click Add Product Template.

Web form

  1. On the form, enter details such as:

    • Template Name

    • Brand or Variety

    • Packaging Type

    • Unique Identifier (e.g. SKU, GTIN)

    • Permission settings

    • Brand Owner and Manufacturer

    • Optional Classification such as HS Code, GS1 Classification or Uniclass

  2. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

  3. Click Add to save the new product template.

Once added, your template will be available in the Product Catalogue and ready to be used for product creation or uploads.
