You create a Product Template to define the standard characteristics of a product variety so it can be traced and traded. Create one from a web form, in bulk via CSV, or through the API. Create templates only for products your Organisation owns.
Note: to add a template owned by a third party, raise a Support Request with the details and our team will help add it.
Open the Add template form
Go to Ecosystem Registries > Product Templates and click + Add template. To add many templates at once, use the Bulk Upload via CSV option in the list's menu (the three-dot menu next to Add template).
Complete the form
Fill in the sections:
Identification: one or more identifiers (ID Type and ID, such as GTIN or SKU), an optional Parent Product Template, the Name and Common Name, Visibility (Private or public), Brand Name and Sub-Brand Name, Country of Origin, and the Brand Owner and Manufacturer (your own organisation, an external organisation, or unknown).
Description and a Product Template Image (optional).
Harmonised System (HS) code and GS1 Classification (Segment, Family, Class, Brick) to classify the product for trade and grouping.
Biological Classification: for biological products, enter the Scientific Name. Linking to the shared species record applies the related Family, Genus, Species and CITES appendix automatically, so you do not enter the CITES appendix separately. See What is the CITES appendix in OriginsNext?
Additional Classifications (optional): Uniclass code, NATSPEC and others.
Click Save and Close, or Save and add specifications to continue adding specifications (such as the measure type) to the template.
Your template then appears in the Product Templates list, ready to use.
To view, search or edit templates afterwards, see How do I view, search and edit my Product Templates?
