A data series in OriginsNext is a structured collection of sequential, time-stamped data points attached to a product (or logistic unit). These data points are typically generated by IoT devices or sensors, or uploaded by CSV, and represent how a metric changes over time. A data series is attached to a product or logistic unit that already exists; it does not create products. You see it in the app as a Data Series (the CSV upload is referred to internally as "Product Data").
Why are data series important?
Data series let you track key metrics across the product lifecycle for monitoring, analytics and compliance. You can:
View data in interactive charts within the product summary.
Extract data via the OriginsNext API.
Support advanced traceability with contextual, time-based information.
Examples of data series
Temperature logs from an IoT device during cold-chain transport.
Animal weight gains recorded over time.
Carbon emissions accumulated at each supply chain event.
To add readings, see How do I upload a Data Series? To view them, see How do I view the Data Series chart for a Product?
