What is a Data Series?

Track and view time-series data captured along the supply chain

Updated over 3 weeks ago

A data series in OriginsNext is a structured collection of sequential data points related to a product or group of products. These data points are typically generated by IoT devices, sensors, or uploaded CSVs and represent changes over time.

Why are data series important?

Data series allow you to track key metrics across the product lifecycle for monitoring, analytics, and compliance. You can:

  • View data in interactive charts within the product summary

  • Extract data via the OriginsNext API

  • Support advanced traceability with contextual time-based information

Examples of data series:

  • Temperature logs from an IoT device during cold-chain transport

  • Animal weight gains recorded over time

  • Carbon emissions accumulated at each supply chain event

Note: Only users with the correct permissions can view or upload data series for specific products.
